Feeling in the mood for surfing? We can tell you that Kia certainly does, as the automotive producers has joined forces with Antenna magazine to give us a surf-themed concept based on the Rio at the upcoming SEMA event.

The vehicle is dressed in a sunset-metallic coat, comes with two-tone lightweight alloy rims (gold is the main color here) and brings goodies such as a centrally-mounted dual exhaust system with generously-sized tips, as well as a wooden front splitter.

As for the interior, this is being gifted with wooden shelves that can hold you action gear, as well as a rear console that uses “80s’ style arcade games”.

A month has passed since Kia announced US pricing for their five-door Kia Rio hatchback, and now the South Korean automaker has come up with a sticker for the sedan version.

The new Rio four-door sedan will start at $14,150 including the destination charge of $750. This means that the model equipped with the same 1.6-liter and the same manual gearbox will sell for $200 less tan its hatchback sibling. Meanwhile, the automatic version will start at $15,250.

We’ll remind you that the sedan packs a 1.6-liter GDI and is available in three trim levels, LX, EX and SX. The manual version will do 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.

Standard equipment features across the range include air conditioning, electric power steering, an MP3 audio system with USB and auxiliary ports, SiriusXM satellite radio with three months complimentary service, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM).

The upcoming SEMA event will bring an external combustion of custom vehicles, but the event will also greet us with other goodies, such as motorsport-destined vehicles, with the latest example of such a car being Kia’s B-Spec Rio.

The vehicle was developed by Kinetic Motorsports and comes with the usual racing safety equipment, such as a roll cage, a fire extinguisher and others.

The car is eligible for competitions like GRAND-AM, World Challenge, SportsCar Club of America (SCCA) or National Auto Sport Association (NASA). It will come with a racing suspension and modified brakes, while its 1.6-liter engine, which delivers 140 hp in the street-destined version, will also be modified.

We’ll be back with more detailed info once the vehicle makes its debut at SEMA.

Post By Car Exist

Cars Kia on this post under tags as bellows :
Kia is topping expectations in just about every market right now, and the automaker has reported global deliveries totaled 217,736 vehicles sold globally in September, representing a 16.3 percent sales increase from the same month a year ago.

The automaker reported significant double-digit increases in many major markets: 45.9 per cent in China, 20.6 per cent in North America and 20.6 percent in Europe. September sales in Kia’s home market of Korea grew year-on-year by 4.4 percent, while sales in general markets declined by 2.6 percent.

"We should carry out aggressive marketing so that new strategic models for Europe will drive European sales," Chung Mong-koo, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, said in a recent visit to the Old Continent.

For the first nine months of the year, Kia’s global sales have shown an increase of 18.2 percent compared to the first three quarters of last year. North America saw the biggest change with a 35 percent jump this year, followed by China with 27.1 percent.
