Cars Kia on this post under tags as bellows :
Kia thoroughly impressed us with the lines of their GT Concept that made its debut in Frankfurt. Automakers have a strange habit of making us dream something, only to build something entirely different when they want to actually sell it.
We think there’s a flood of cheap rear-wheel drive cars coming our way from manufacturers like Toyota, Subaru, Hyundai and Kia. While this offensive has not yet materialized, Kia is likely keeping one eye on what the competition is doing, and it might be changing things up under the bonnet of the GT.
We’re really short on actual information right now, but AutoExpress was told by Kia’s design director Peter Schreyer that the GT could eventually use smaller engines or hybrid technology. This could mean that they’ve underestimated demand for the car and are considering it to be more than just a halo project.
We’d really like to see a a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot with about 270 horsepower and rear-wheel drive. We’ll remind you that the GT Concept made its debut with a 3.3-liter turbocharged V6 with about 400 horsepower.
